Revelation Perth International Film Festival, a ‘go-to’ event for independent filmmakers, distributors and discerning audiences, has launched its largest program of the festival’s 20 years, boasting over 200 films screening in venues across Perth and Fremantle.
Revelation runs from 6 – 19 July.
The mammoth task of curating the festival was once again undertaken by Jack Sargeant, Revelation Program Director. Revelation features award-winning films; 15 world premieres and 47 Australian premieres; new Australian works and live performances which celebrate the strength of all aspects of screen culture.
The program includes four Western Australian documentary features, TOP KNOT DETECTIVE, MEAL TICKETS, IT’S NOT JUST ME and SECRETS AT SUNRISE in addition to shorts in the regular program and in Screenwest’s showcase of WA’s emerging filmmakers, GET YOUR SHORTS ON!.
Revelation caters to all ages and tastes across various platforms. There are free children’s screenings at Mini Rev as well as LIFE IN PICTURES, an evening of WA shorts which challenge the perception of ageing.
Festival Director and founder Richard Sowada said “For us, our core principles of providing platforms for unique voices by championing filmmakers, exploring form through our commitment to moving image art and encouraging local content and ideas remain as strong as ever and has made us a leader in [the film industry’s] revolution in Australia. We’re all very proud of that.”
Revelation offers more than just films. Industrial Revelations will feature some of the festival’s guests exploring key aspects of the industry at dedicated panels and workshops.
Be sure to check out Club Rev @ Babushka, a nightly hub for discussion, networking and treasured 16mm screenings.
Revelation Academic sees scholars delivering papers and exploring cinema and visual culture, a platform that is unique to any Australian film festival.
There are exhibitions which also celebrate the audio-visual. Don’t miss SUSPENDED VOICES at St George’s Cathedral.
The complete program is now online and tickets are on sale from the Revelation website and Luna Palace Cinemas.
Revelation is proudly supported by the Australian and Western Australian governments through Screenwest, Lotterywest and Screen Australia.
