170405 SPA Logo v2Knowing the commercial framework to operate in the screen industry is vital to success.  Screen Producers Australia (SPA) is coming to Perth Friday, 7 July to hold their one day course, BUSINESS ESSENTIALS which covers legal, accounting and project financial management.

The workshop will be held at the Fielder St Creative, 30 Fielder St, East Perth.  Owen Johnston and Mark Donaldson of SPA will be speaking along with a representative from Media Super.

SPA Business Essentials is presented in association with Australian Film and Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and covers the commercial framework in which producers must operate. The course is designed to provide you with the essential information to start, develop, and grow a film and television business.

Topic areas include choosing the right business set up with correct legal and accounting structures, through to complying with state and federal legislation and regulation, to managing a slate of projects, and understanding production accounting.

The Business Essentials program is vital for start-ups while also serving as a refresher for established businesses. The course covers legal structures, tax incentives and compliance, business planning, managing cashflow, copyright and chain of title, rights negotiation, distribution and licensing agreements, cast and crew agreements, financial management of productions, fringes, and insurance.
